Who we are
Bientenu is published by MarcoPlot, SASU, 25 avenue du Vingtième Corps, 54000 Nancy, France (see the legal notice). Contact for any question about your data: contact@bientenu.fr.
You book a table at a restaurant
When you book on a restaurant’s page (bientenu.fr/r/…), the restaurant is the controller of your data. MarcoPlot acts on its behalf, as a processor, and does not use this data for its own purposes, except to compile overall, anonymous statistics (numbers of bookings, rates) in which nothing can identify you.
Data
- First name, last name, phone number, e-mail address.
- The booking: date, time, number of guests, occasion, message to the restaurant.
- The language of the page you book on (French, English, German or Italian), so that we write to you in that language.
- Your birthday (day and month), only if you give it to the restaurant.
- Your allergies, intolerances and diet (vegetarian, vegan…), only if you state them, so that the restaurant can prepare your meals accordingly. These are health data: the restaurant keeps them on your guest record with your consent, given by stating them, and erases them on request.
- The history of your bookings at this restaurant (visits, cancellations, no-shows), kept by the restaurant.
- If the restaurant asks for a deposit or a card guarantee: the amount, and the date and status of the payment, any refund or any fee charged. Never your card details.
- If the restaurant switches to Bientenu from other software, the bookings and guest records it had, which it imports from a file (name, phone number, e-mail, date, time, number of guests, remarks).
Use
- Recording and managing your booking, and letting you cancel it.
- Sending you the e-mails about your booking: verifying your address, confirmation, refusal, reminder, cancellation.
- If you dispute a deposit kept or a fee charged with your bank: sending the bank, through the restaurant’s Stripe account, the proof of the booking (name, e-mail, date, terms accepted, dates of the e-mails and steps). Legal basis: the restaurant’s legitimate interest in defending its rights.
- Sending you an offer from the restaurant for your birthday by e-mail, if you have already been there and did not decline it when booking online. You can decline it when booking, and every offer contains an unsubscribe link that takes effect immediately. The e-mails about your bookings keep reaching you.
Retention
- A booking whose deposit is not paid, or whose card is not saved, is deleted after 30 minutes.
- Other data is kept as long as the restaurant uses Bientenu, then deleted thirty days after its account is closed.
Your rights
Contact the restaurant to access, correct or delete your data, or to object to its use. You can also write to contact@bientenu.fr: we pass your request on to the restaurant concerned.
You use Bientenu for your restaurant
For restaurant accounts, MarcoPlot is the controller.
- Data: users’ first name, last name and e-mail address, password (stored as a hash, never readable), the restaurant’s name and contact details, account settings.
- Use: providing the service, signing you in, writing to you about your account. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
- Account request: the form asks for the restaurant’s name, town and size, your name, your job title, your e-mail address and your phone number (company name, SIRET and message are optional). This information is used only to contact you and send you your invitation. Legal basis: pre-contractual steps taken at your request. It is deleted one year after our answer.
- Retention: as long as the account is open. After closure, you can still obtain a copy of your data for thirty days; it is then deleted, together with your guests’ data, except what the law requires us to keep (invoices: 10 years). See the terms of use.
AI assistance
In the app’s help, you can ask an automatic assistant a question. MarcoPlot is the controller for this processing.
- Data: your question, the answer, your role (owner, manager or floor staff) and the restaurant. E-mail addresses, phone numbers and long strings of digits are masked before they are stored and before they are sent.
- To answer, the assistant reads the restaurant’s saved settings (opening hours, online booking, deposits, floor plan), never the reservations, the guests or the team’s contact details.
- Use: answering your question and, if you ask, passing the conversation on to the team. Legal basis: performance of the contract.
- Transfer: the question is sent to Anthropic, PBC (United States), which writes the answer. This transfer is covered by the European Commission’s standard contractual clauses.
- Retention: twelve months, then deleted.
- Do not write details about your guests (names, phone numbers, allergies) in your questions: the assistant does not need them.
Service providers
Your data is neither sold nor used for advertising. It only passes through:
- OVH SAS (France): hosting of the website, the service and the data, on a server in Strasbourg and a standby server in Gravelines.
- Amazon Web Services EMEA SARL (Luxembourg), Paris region: sending e-mails and backup copies.
- Google Ireland Limited: the inbox of contact@bientenu.fr, if you write to us.
- Anthropic, PBC (United States): the AI assistance in the app’s help, see above.
- Stripe Payments Europe Ltd (Ireland): payment for the Bientenu subscription and for the e-mails bought by restaurants. This data may be transferred to Stripe, Inc. (United States); this transfer is covered by the Data Privacy Framework and Stripe’s standard contractual clauses. If a restaurant asks for a deposit or a card guarantee, you pay or put your card on file on a Stripe page, for the restaurant’s own Stripe account. Stripe then acts for the restaurant, and your card details are processed by Stripe under its privacy policy, without the restaurant or Bientenu seeing them.
Cookies and browser storage
Bientenu uses no analytics and no advertising. Only the following are used:
- for restaurants, a session cookie and a security cookie, needed to sign in;
- for the trial without an account, your settings, kept in your browser and never sent to Bientenu;
- for guests, the key to your booking, kept in your browser so that you can find it again without reopening the e-mail, and the language you chose for the page;
- for guests, the proof of your verified e-mail address, kept for one year in your browser.
These are essential to the service and do not require consent.
Security
All pages use an encrypted connection (HTTPS). Passwords and access keys are only stored as hashes. Each restaurant only sees its own data.
Data is backed up regularly, on the server and with Amazon in Paris; copies are kept for no more than 30 days. Deleted data may therefore remain in these copies until they expire. The servers’ technical logs are kept 14 days.
Complaints
If you believe your rights have not been respected, you can contact the CNIL, the French data protection authority: 3 place de Fontenoy, TSA 80715, 75334 Paris Cedex 07, France, www.cnil.fr.
